About

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. There's nothing about football on this site. Sorry to disappoint.

Notbrady (formerly Open Marketing) is the personal site of Marcia Kadanoff. She has been blogging here (more or less) since 1999.  Some of the content that appears here was created when Open Marketing was a content-marketing agency. The agency closed in 2014 following its sale to Autopilot (a leader in marketing automation).

About Marcia

Marcia Kadanoff is a social-impact entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience. She has served as CEO of the Maker City Project, a social-impact consultancy creating new forms of civic innovation and economic opportunities within cities. As part of this work, she wrote the best-selling book entitled: Maker City: A Practical Guide to Reinventing American Cities (2017).  She came to this work after serving as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Marketing Officer to City Innovate, which is working to modernize government by making new technologies more readily available.

For the last 10 years, Marcia has worked with nonprofits with very different earned-income models and budget levels.

As a for-profit leader, she has 20 years of practical on-the-ground experience working to build and scale small businesses. She has served as CEO and CMO to venture-backed startups and founded, ran, and sold two successful marketing agencies: Open Marketing (content marketing) and Miller/Kadanoff (direct and interactive marketing). As part of her agency work, she built and optimized large content sites for Cisco and Knight Ridder, created the first-ever internet advertising campaigns for Blue Shields and Wells Fargo Bank, built out email subscriber lists for Microsoft, and put in place technology infrastructure for startups and established businesses alike. The early days of her career were spent at The Clorox Company, Apple Computer, and Sun Microsystems.

Marcia was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in July 2017 and was able to reverse her diabetes in less than 45 days with the help of an LCHF (low carb, healthy fat) way of eating and exercise.  She is proud to call herself a person with diabetes #pwd.

Starting in June 2020 Marcia relocated to Portland Oregon with her husband Rich Mironov, their “Westie” Celeste, and Olivia the wonder cat. She has a grown daughter named Sasha who lives in NY and works at Pfizer.

Marcia has an MBA from Stanford and a BA from Harvard in Psychology and Social Relations.

Marcia enjoys mentoring/coaching people early in their professional careers. She is a past member of the leadership of the Direct Marketing Association and served in a leadership role at the Committee of 200, a membership organization for the top-echelon women business leaders in the U.S.
